This page sets out what we believe, how we hold it, and the sacred practices through which that belief is expressed.
Our statement of faith.
Faithful Five draws upon the foundational confessions of the Christian faith. We affirm the Apostles’ Creed as the ancient summary of Christian belief held in common by the whole Church, and the Five Solas of the Reformation — Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gratia, Solus Christus, and Soli Deo Gloria.
We confess one God, eternally Father, Son and Holy Spirit; the incarnation, death, resurrection and return of Jesus Christ; salvation by grace through faith; the authority of the Scriptures; and the communion of the saints across every age and nation.
Four streams, one tree.
The Christian family is a large tent. Within it we recognize four great streams — Catholic and Orthodox, Mainline and Evangelical, Pentecostal and Charismatic, Contemplative and Mystic. Like the four rivers that watered the Garden of Eden, these streams nourish and refresh our spiritual growth. We honor the call to unity while embracing our own distinctness.
Faithful Five stands at the place where those streams meet, and where they meet they form a tree — the Tree of Life at the center of the Garden. That tree draws its life from the Triune God: the Father as the soil, the Son as the sap, and the Holy Spirit as the elements of sun, wind and rain that nurture its growth.
Catholic and Orthodox
The roots extend into the ancient past, grounding the tree in centuries of liturgy and theological reflection.
Mainline and Evangelical
The central stem embodies the diverse theological insights of Reformation Christianity.
Pentecostal and Charismatic
The branches embody the passionate nature of Pentecostal worship and the exercise of spiritual gifts.
Contemplative and Mystic
The leaves absorb revelation, symbolizing union with God through inner reflection.
Sacred practices.
Our activities are an inseparable blend of the religious and the communal. These are not merely charitable efforts; they are sacred practices integral to our faith, in the sense of James 2:14–26, where faith without works is dead. Separating them from our beliefs would violate our faith.
- Spiritual services. Baptism, communion, weddings, funerals, prayer services, and corporate worship.
- Community outreach. Feeding the homeless, counseling, and supporting rehabilitation for those in need.
- Cultural and artistic programs. Choirs, performances, and media productions that express faith creatively.
- Educational initiatives. Schools, forums, and seminars for faith-based education and discussion.
- World missions. Establishing schools and services beyond our own community.
Alongside these, the church provides pastoral care, counseling, and prayer ministry to its congregation and to the wider community it serves. Our regular schedule of worship is published on the Ministries page.
How we hold our doctrine.
Faithful Five is not a creedal church in the narrow sense. We encourage freedom in exploring Christian doctrine and allow liberty of thought among those who gather with us, provided such diversity does not disrupt the life of the church. Authority for the interpretation of Scripture and matters of faith rests with the church’s Senior Strategic Advisors, who ensure that our teaching remains aligned with the core beliefs set out above while leaving room for personal exploration.
Faithful Five Inc. is governed by a Board of Directors under bylaws adopted October 25, 2024, and ordains ministers under a written procedure requiring demonstrated calling, ministerial experience, theological study, and mentorship within the church. Both men and women are eligible for ordination.
